We have been getting a lot of calls lately about both lost and found pets. We are happy to help these critters find their way back to their owners. Recently, we were even able to help a bunny get back home. To make the process easier and get the word out more quickly, we have created a lost and found form for people to submit online which will create a posting to our website. Please keep the postings limited to animals in the Clark County, IL and the surrounding areas.

Some simple ways to help ensure that your beloved furry friend will get home safely:
Get your pets microchipped. Microchipping your pet is quick and simple to do in an office visit or at the time of an elective surgery such as spay or neuter. The cost is fairly minimal for permanent lifetime identification which will remain present even if your pet slips a collar off. At our clinic, the chips also include lifetime registration for your pet’s information. If your pet has already been chipped, make sure that you have completed the registration process. The chip does no good if it is not registered with the company including your up to date contact information.
Keep a collar on your pets with an i.d. tag. People may assume that an animal has been “dumped” or is not owned by anyone if there is no collar. Microchips cannot be seen – they must be scanned, so a collar and tag will alert the finder that the animal is owned. In the case that the collar is lost, microchips will help to serve as a backup when the animal is scanned at a veterinarian or shelter.
Post to websites and facebook if your pet becomes lost. Include a recent photo and as much description as possible. Facebook has been really helpful to us in getting pets safely returned. If you see a lost or found animal post in your facebook feed, please like or share it so that others may keep a lookout or share information.
