Q: After I have my pet microchipped, what do I do next?
A: You need to register the chip by visiting www.petlink.net and entering your pet’s information. You may instead fill out the form you received at your visit and mail it. Either way, it’s important that you register the chip or your information will not be linked to it. There is no additional fee required for registration. Q: Is there a local assistant program to help with the cost of Spay and Neutering?
A: Yes, if you live in Marshall city limits, you can City Hall at 217-826-8084 for a coupon to help with the expense of spay and neutering. The amount of the discount depends on the weight of your pet and if it’s a cat or dog. You MUST BRING this coupon with you the day of your pet’s spay or neuter surgery.
Q: Do you accept payments (installments) for services?
A: As a small business, we cannot extend credit of any kind. However, we do accept CareCredit, which a medical credit card that you can use at your veterinarian (or dentist, etc.) for medical expenses only. We also accept Cash, Check (with ID), Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Q: How often do I give Flea, tick, and heartworm preventative?
A: Monthly (every 30 days)
Q: Why should I give heartworm preventative?
A: Prevention kills only early stage larvae and microfilariae. This is why it is important to give your dog heartworm prevention every month. It kills the larvae before they develop into a stage that is immune to the medication in heartworm prevention.
Q: How long is my female dog in heat?
A: Usually about 3 weeks [1 week prior to bleeding, 1 week bleeding, and then 1 week after bleeding is over.]
Q: How old does my pet have to be to get spayed or neutered?
A: Generally around 6 months old.
Q: At what age does my puppy lose all of their puppy teeth?
A: 5-6 months old.
Q: How old does my puppy need to be for first round of vaccines?
A: Your puppy needs to be 6-8 weeks old for their first round of vaccines. Then they will need at least 2 more sets of vaccines 4 weeks apart to develop full protection from the vaccines.
